EFT Negative Cycle Tracking Self-Study
Over time, all couples develop negative communication patterns that can leave partners feeling disconnected and misunderstood.
This structured self-study module is based on the EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) approach and is psychoeducational in nature. This assessment will help you and your partner understand why even small arguments can escalate so quickly. You will gain insight into the needs that drive your negative cycle along with strategies to escape these rigid patterns that keep you and your partner stuck in conflict and disconnection. After completing this assessment, couples will not only have a more concrete understanding of their cycle, but a visual tool to help them recognize their cycle and revisit moments when their cycle took over.
This self-study module is equally appropriate for couples who are taking/have taken the Online Hold Me Tight® workshop, and those who have not. Both couples in current relationship distress and those looking to prevent future distress can benefit. If you and your partner are currently experiencing high conflict, you may benefit from the one-on-one support from a therapist as you complete this assessment from Dr. Bordieri and/or in ongoing couple's therapy.
For couples who have taken the Online Hold Me Tight workshop, this self-study module will solidify what you learned about your cycle in the workshop and help pull together what you learned in some of the individual conversations.
This assessment includes:
- Access to an Introduction to EFT recording.
- Access to the Negative Cycle Tracking recording.
- A homework activity to complete on your own prior to viewing the Negative Cycle Tracking recording.
- The negative cycle "fill-in" form that the video will walk you and your partner through how to complete - this will be your personalized, visual tool for tracking your cycle
- A tip sheet with initial strategies to start to de-escalate your negative cycle.
You also have the option to add private coaching sessions with Dr. Bordieri to get more in-depth and personalized support on implementing de-escalation strategies.
